A 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck inland Myanmar at 12:50 p.m. on the 28th (local time).
According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the epicenter is 248 kilometers north-northwest of the capital Naypyitaw and 33 kilometers southwest of Mandalay, the second city with a population of 1.2 million. The depth of the epicenter was observed to be 10 kilometers.
According to Reuters, the German Center for Geoscience and Research (GFZ) also measured the magnitude of the earthquake at 7.4 and estimated the depth of the epicenter at 10 km.
